Education in our country is fast expanding rather by leaps and bounds but the quality and standard of education is deteriorated. The main purpose of education is to help seekers to develop to the best of their ability and to find a suitable and satisfying vocation. And examinations are the only means of judging how far that purpose has served. They thus occupy a very important place in the system of education. In a country like India where degree is valued more as a passport to a job than as evidence of academic attainments, they require added importance and the word ‘qualification’ inserted in advertisements of job vacancies is generally taken to mean degrees or diplomas gained through examination.
‘Practice makes a man perfect but no one perfect so why practice ’
There is hardly any system devised by man which can be called perfect. Our examination system is no exception. In fact, it has more than its share of defects. The whole idea of judging a student’s worth during three hours of performance is psychologically wrong sometimes even a brilliant student fail to make their mark in the examination hall, where as the dull students fare better often with the help of foreign aid (unfair means). The present process of examination lays too much emphasis on cramming work. Students learn something by role and disgorge it on the paper in the examination hall. After the examination is over they forget everything, they had so diligently learnt. Cram work saps the source of original thinking. One of the greatest defects of the present system of examination is that students stop thinking for themselves. They do not develop the creative faculties. Their mental growth is stunted.
Examinations at present are best test of memory only and there is a technique of making the grade in them. Those who have mastered, that technique secure good marks even without any preparation which should enable one to stand in the 
queue for a job. If it is to be real test of an individual’s qualities of head and heart an examination must test his ability to think creatively, comprehend quickly, judge accurately and express clearly. But our examinations have an entirely different orientation. They are mostly crude essay type. There is a premium on parrot like memorization at the cost of reason and intelligence. Even in the highest degree of examinations, subject centered and role-learning counts while original thinking is at a discount. Instead of encouraging thinking for himself, the student is often punished for it.
A candidate taking an examination in English literature is safe as he confines himself to quoting famous critics. But as soon as he ventures to express his own opinion, he is on dangerous ground. Chances are that the examiner who is himself incapable of original thinking and has all his life taken pride in being able to quote a hundred critics from memory well treat the candidate’s attempt as a piece of sheer arrogance and penalize him for it. The miseries do not end here. After the candidate has answered the question paper, he is at the mercy of the examiner. The examiner’s predilections can also cause distortions and play havoc with student’s career. After all examiner too is a human being and as fallible as any one else. But the mistakes he makes are costly. They can cause acute mental agony to candidates on whom he delivers wrong judgment. And yet he presumes to stamp a student a failure or give him a third, second or first class just in about seven or Eight minutes. How reliable this method of testing candidate’s ability can be what is the student doing under present system of Examination? They just burn mid-night oil one month before the examination with the attitude of a gambler. They prepare some guess papers and just cram few topics in order to pass the examination. Examination is often a terror for the students especially for Kashmiri ones. As they have seen turmoil during their elementary stage. Going to the examination hall is for majority of students is like a poor goat’s going to a slaughter house. At mere mention of the word examination student begin to tremble and show signs of dejection and unsatisfaction.
A degree achieved by such type of faulty examination system is not necessary to be a great writer or genius. Great men; world has ever produced never went to colleges and universities. Genius sometime flourishes outside the camping influence of educational institutions. Kalidas, Leo Tolstoy, William Shakespeare. Michael Faraday, Charles Robert Darwin and the list goes on. These people were mighty brains which shook the world. Thomas Alva Edison the greatest of all scientist failed in class 4th four times. Bill Gates owner of Microsoft international is only high school drop out. The fact is university education is not absolutely necessary for fashioning the future of a person and making him a literary giant. There can be not two opinions about urgent need for reform in our examination system. Universities have to adopt other measure also to improve their education standards and techniques of testing the candidates. First of all they must take step to reduce the number of failures. There is no virtue in a candidate being able to get through all subjects in a single comprehensive test of a brief duration universities must not make light of throwing young people’s out of the game of life. Simply because they are not able to pass the examination. The student must also be allowed to choose a vocation and provided facilities to acquire the necessary skill follow it so that when he leaves, portals of his alma-mater he is well equipped to face life and does not feel like bade in the wood. So at last we can say that examinations are not true test of one’s ability.

NOIDA 23/10/09: The students of Amity School of Communication from Amity University Rajasthan went for an industrial visit to the offices of ZEE NEWS and IBN7 at Noida Film city today on Friday. Students learned a lot from the livewire exposure to the field. While commenting on the visit a third year student Asif Khan said, “Visits like these help us to have first hand on experience on the working environment. Moreover these visits also help us to know what we cannot learn in our class room”.
As an integral part of the Journalism course, the students are required to pay visits to various media and mass communication organisation in order to have industrial exposure.Amity School of Communication (ASCo) Rajasthan organizes various industrial visits for the students to fulfil this requirement. In the series of these visits ASCo organized a 3 days educational tour to delhi, where students visited Zee News and IBN7 office. This industrial visit provided an insight on how media companies work and also helped together useful information related to the course which cannot be visualized in lectures.
The staffs of both the news channels were very cooperative and helped a lot in making students aware about the pros and cons of the industry in addition to the technical aspects. While interacting with the student, technical head of the ZEE news Sanjay Vohra said, “You all are the torch bearers of fourth estate. Media industry in the today’s world is most is blooming”. Focussing on the yellow journalism, he further said, “We require talented, hard working and dedicated youth in the offices and if you have it in you can be a good journo but never forget ethics”
The industrial visit, thus met its purpose by giving the students the opportunity to learn through observation needed for budding Journalists. The day the students spent attending the industrial visit was both enjoyable and useful.

Amity University Rajasthan took part and won many prizes in a month long sports meet sangathan at Amity University Noida. The valedictory function was organised on 24th Oct.09 at amity Univeristy Noida Campus. Addressing the students on the occasion the Founder President- Amity, Dr. Ashok K. Chouhan stressed upon the team spirit and true sportsmanship. He motivated the students to achieve the heights in life with passion and Junoon.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Aseem Chauhan- Additional President, RBEF and Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan urged the students to compete as a true sportsperson with healthy spirit of competition. He motivated them to not to lose their heart even if they don’t emerge as winners because for him they are all winners after being able to stand together united as a team. Highlighting the importance of sports in one’s life, Dr. R.S. Sirohi, Vice Chancellor Amity University Rajasthan said that sports events are a good source of learning the life and interpersonal skills. Sports motivate and inspire us to achieve the greater heights in our lives..
Amity Universe, every year organizes the largest students sporting event of the country- ‘SANGATHAN’ which concludes on 24th October every year.
The tenth meet in succession culminated on the birthday of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan- Founder President, Amity University with the felicitation of winners of various games and sports and is celebrated as the “Founders Day”. The month long , Sanagathan holds various sports and adventurous events in which more than eight thousand students from various Amity Institutions across the country, participates. The whole event was a source of healthy interaction and team spirit. It was a wonderful chance to interact for various universities of amity varsities.

“Nanotechnology will make man immortal by 2029, the knowledge of nanotechnology is to be generated in 21st century. Its wide range of applications in areas such as medical, environment, pharmacy, textile, food etc. Makes it the technology of next generation.” These were the thoughts expressed by Prof.R.P.Singh, Director, Amity institute of Nanotechnology and vice chairman, Amity Science and Technology Innovation Foundation Amity University, NOIDA(U.P.). He was addressing the budding biotechnologist at Amity University Rajasthan.
Speaking on the future perspectives of nanotechnology, Prof. Singh said, “this technology is very relevant in present scenario to live a quality life. Fields are opening up with new opportunities and there is a great demand of nanotech professionals”. He interacted with the students and guided them about the future perspective and career options in the field of nanotechnology in India and abroad.
The lecture was attended by the students of Amity Institute of Biotechnology.Prior to this welcome note was delivered by Brig.(retd.) V.K.Pandey, Registrar, Amity University Rajasthan. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. G. K. Aseri, Dy. Direc tor- Amity School of Biotechnology and token of remembrance was presented by Prof. Om Vir Singh, Director Amity School of Engineering. In the ongoing Amity Industrial Interaction Series, Amity Law School under the aegis of Amity University Rajasthan has organised specialized lecture on human rights. The lecture was delivered by Justice (rtd.) N.K.Jain, Chairperson- State Human Rights Commission Rajasthan.
Speaking on the human rights in India, Justice Jain mentioned, “In 1993 human rights act was launched and under this law no one should be tortured and right to live with liberty was given with the obedience of law”. He also stressed on the fact that everyone must have awareness about the law as ignorance of law is no excuse.
Highlighting the career opportunities in the field of law, he said that ‘Legal fields are opening up with new opportunities. There is a great demand of law professionals to handle the areas related to Criminal Cases, Civil, Cyber, Taxes etc. The distinguished speaker interacted with the students and guided them about the future perspective and career options in the field of of law in India and abroad.
While answering the queries of the students Justice Jain agreed that there is lot of corruption in Indian system which causes delayed judgments. Giving example he said, “A local magistrate has to look nearly 200 cases in a day, which sometime, is not feasible. This leads to the bribery and under-table actions.
The lecture was attended by the students of mass communication and law. Prior to this welcome note was delivered by Prof. Om vir Singh, Director, Amity School of Engineering. ‘Tring-tring’ my cell perturbed my favourite activity; my syrupy cock-crow nap. Dude it was neither a call nor a message but my alarm with reminder ‘Time for college’. “Shit! I am not at home but 30 hours from my sweet abode in college hostel. No doubt I was angry as I could not sleep any more but untrodden campus life fascinated me to persuade.
First day of college is always dream come true for everyone and I was no different to them. Fourth August my very first day at Amity; was full of excitement and inquisitiveness Subsequently, I stepped out of my hostel with lots of new faces around me. Trying to guess many possessions about the new Amitians , not hundreds but thousands of thoughts were striking my innocent mind – where will be my classroom, will I get a good company or not, what will be the reaction of my mates and teachers on my first glimpse and so on. From the main access of my college I turned back as if someone had called me and found world of Amitians with me.
After enquiry I came to know my class is on third floor which gaunt me a bit as I am little lazy at times but koi baat nahi chalega... I entered my classroom after much struggle and my mentor was waiting for me with a registration form. After registration I was guided to move to auditorium for orientation. As soon as I stepped in, I found an Auditorium fully packed with new Amitians. At first sight, I thought all present are from mass communication but my infatuation was short lived. All were fresher’s like me but from different branches. During orientation Honable speakers like Chancellor Amity University Rajasthan, Mr. Asim Chauhan, and Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajpal Singh Sirohi, addressed and introduce us to Amity Universe. We were also enriched with attributes of an Amitian. This was really a wonderful session for all of us. This was not all breathtaking –ice breaking session was still to come up for that we were instructed to move towards library.I was totally confused wFirst day of college is always dream come true for everyone and I was no different to them. hat‘s going to happen in this session. Well, it was quiet interesting. Ice- breaking session was conducted by our Behavioural science faculty. Activities based on stage fear, knowing each other and team work was ingredients of ice-breaking.Adventure didn’t end here next day as even more exciting as I have to meet my class fellows. I got timely dressed as it was first day of my class and I never wanted to be late. My first sight at my fellows made me think will our thoughts match at any stance. We looked at each other with curiosity. I still remember the day we first met. Not knowing each other, wanting to know but not even a smile, then we started with blank smile, followed by formal talks, then with ji, hanji, bol yaar, then assigned each other funny names, shared our days, hours together. We even shared our thoughts, worries, dreams and fantasies, faced challenges together. In amity I have found some real friends rather gems. May our friendship be immortal! (ameen)

I learned how to behave, learn and achieve in college life. Sometimes as a spectator, sometimes as a participant I engaged in trifles. Well, life teaches as you move on. But now I cultured how to solve and come out of them. I learned to manage my social, personal and professional life. I do really feel and want to admit Amity is a beautiful, hale and hearty place to grow up. My heart is bound to pay gratitude, but I can’t express my profound sense of gratitude and cumulative appreciation in word to Amity University Rajasthan. I would fail from my duty if I don’t articulate gratefulness to my faculties who are the best of all what I got in Amity. As a guardian, as a friend they motivated and criticised at every step, to help us grow the most preeminent way. Today I want to admit that weather you realise this or not what amity gave me I would not have got it anywhere else. In short Amity means a lot to me.

Jaipur: Following the tradition, Amity University Rajasthan organised a cricket tournament “Mahasangram-2” in the amity grounds. The event was organised by the amity university cricket club. In the season- 2, MBA guys again made history by defeating MIT a team from from ASE in the final. Knight riders of first season transformed in to Gladiators but still with the same force. Knight riders triumph the final by 56 runs.
Brigadier G.S. Rathore and Brigadier V.K. Pandey came for the inauguration of the ournament on 22nd august and enthused cricketers by boosting words. Tourney continued very smoothly for 16 long days as all the players played very well and the non participants supported it from the core of the heart.
Some incidents went very crazy this time in comparison to last year. Perfect warriors the finalists of the 1st edition were out in the 1st round of the tourney while the team from the MBA won the tournament in similar fashion.
Honourable V.C. Amity University Rajasthan also witnessed the breath taking finals later distributed trophies to both the winners and the runner ups. The captain of the Gladiators Vijay Deshwal was the man of the series while wicket keeper batsman Sumit Choudhary of the same team was awarded man of the match.
Speaking on the occasion the winning captain Vijay Deshwal said, “Boys played well. I have full faith in them. Our joint efforts lead us to the victory”. In the contrary, the captain of the loosing team Ansu said, “Winning and losing are the part of the game. We enjoyed the game to the true spirits. It was a hard day for us but better luck next time”.
